Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Meralco’s electricity rates for October will go down by 13 centavos per kilowatt hour, marking the sixth straight month that power rates have gone down.
For a typical household consuming 200-kilowatt hours a month, that will mean a reduction of P26 in their monthly bills.
If you are consuming 300-kilowatt hours a month, you will be saving about P39. For those consuming 400-kilowatt hours a month, that’s P52 in savings.
Those consuming as much as 500 kilowatt hours a month will see a reduction of P65.
The reduction on overall rates was primarily due to the generation charge.
Meralco Spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga said that sufficient power supply contributed to lower electricity costs this month.
Other bill components such as systems loss and subsidies also went down this month.
However, the power distributor cannot say if the downward trend of power rates can be sustained until the end of the year.
