
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Tropical Depression Carina has grown slightly stronger as it continues to move northwest.
In its 11 p.m. update on Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that as of 10 p.m., the eye of the storm was located 180 km east southeast of Catarman, Northern Samar.
Seven areas are now under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1
Catanduanes
Camarines Sur
Albay
Sorsogon
Northern Samar
Eastern Samar
Samar
Carina is packing maximum winds of 55 kph near its center and is forecast to move northwest at 9 kph.
The state weather bureau said areas under Signal No. 1, as well as the rest of the Visayas and the provinces of Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate were warned of moderate to heavy rains which might trigger flash floods and landslides.
