
Manila (CNN Philippines Life) — This weekend, play patintero in The Learning Channel’s second festival in the Philippines, partake in Art in Island’s Christmas Art Market, enjoy the work of Japanese contemporary visual artist Kanade Yagi, “eat, sleep, and gig” with local indie bands, and practice your calligraphy with fountain pen enthusiasts.

For the second year in a row, The Learning Channel is back with the TLC Festival, which, this year, features Fun Taiwan’s Janet Hsieh, Surfing the Menu’s Daniel Churchill and Hayden Quinn, and the “cake boss” himself, Buddy Valastro. Take part in all day activities such as piko, patintero, and sipa, or drop by the Filipino fiesta area to get a taste of local delicacies like taho, turon, and halo-halo. Attraction! Reaction! Presents: Out of the Past
Attraction! Reaction! is back on November 5 with a solid line-up of indie bands including Chairman Mouse, Rusty Machines, Musical O, We Are Imaginary, and Hannah & Gabi. Produced by by screenwriter Anj Pessumal and Wide Eyed Records’ Kathy Gener, Attraction! Spend your Saturday evening with today’s up-and-coming local indie acts such as Stomachine, Maya’s Anklet, Quieter, Joop, Oh, Flamingo, and Musical O in Cubism Family’s “Eat. Sleep. Gig.” The event will be held at Mow’s, Kowloon House Basement, 20 Matalino St., Quezon City on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Entrance is ₱200. The Sculptor is a Medium: Interpreting Guillermo Tolentino
Kanade Yagi, a Japanese contemporary visual artist, has been conducting research on the National Artist Guillermo Tolentino. “The Sculptor is a Medium: Interpreting Guillermo Tolentino” features her work as inspired by Tolentino’s work. Through her work, Yagi “attempts to construct concepts free from restrictions of time and space.” The exhibit will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at the Artery, 102 P. Local artists and creatives, such as Creative Chaos Arts and Crafts, Handmade Lemonade, Nuevaluma, Kimcreates, Merry Crafts, Jumping Clay Philippines, Tienda Wabas, WildEggnog, Hiraya Tree, Sketchnotes, Sha Erandio, GUCHO, and Alissa Evangelista, will all be under one roof to showcase their talents through their handcrafted and painted masterpieces, which will be displayed in Art Market: Christmas Edition. Fountain Pen Day Philippines 2016
Fountain Pen Network Philippines will hold handwriting and calligraphy demos and workshops with Fozzy Dayrit, Lorraine Nepomuceno, and Imma Frias on Nov. 5 and Nov. 6, at 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., at 3F SM Aura Premier, in celebration of Fountain Pen Day worldwide.
