Manila (CNN Philippines Life) — This weekend, attend the Escolta Block Party, watch the Japanese math-rock band Toe, participate in an acting class, explore the ways by which our bodies communicate in a photography exhibit, learn about the local art of papercuts, and watch local indie bands in an event production outfit’s year-ender.

In their 16th year in the industry, Japanese math-rock band Toe will be hitting Philippine shores once again. Toe will be performing at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura, Taguig.                                                   Beneath The Surface: A Photo Exhibit

Explore the intricacies of how bodies communicate through photographs in an exhibit featuring the works of Tiff Lu, Jansen Banzon, Thea Lagleva, Khaye Martinez, Yuuki Uchida, and Kimi Garcia.                                                       The Art of Papercuts

The art of the papercut is an ubiquitous art form utilized in Bulacan pastillas wrappers, local banderitas in fiestas, and embellishments in Christmas parols or lanterns. As part of the National Museum’s exhibition on “The Uncommon Art of Glenn Bautista,” who found inspiration in the art form in creating more textures for his paintings in 1989, the National Museum hosts “The Art of Papercuts,” a free workshop by Sinag de Leon.                                                            Escolta Block Party

Experience Escolta like you’ve never had before. The Escolta Block Party is a celebration of the diversity of people who come from different walks of life. The event will feature a street bazaar by 98B COLLABoratory, Pop Up at the Ruins, “The Tale of the Cursed Painting” (a mystery tour by Manila Who), a “Love Parade” tour by Carlos Celdran hosted by VivaManila, DJ sets at Fred’s Revolución Escolta, and many more.
