Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Sandiganbayan on Thursday ordered the suspension of Muntinlupa Representative Ruffy Biazon over graft and malversation charges he is facing over the alleged pork barrel scam.
In a resolution, the anti-graft court granted the motion of state prosecutors to suspend Biazon pending litigation.
The prosecution said Biazon, like any other public official facing graft charges, must be suspended to prevent him from using his position to possibly tamper with evidence or intimidate witnesses.
Biazon is accused of diverting some ₱3 million in pork barrel to fake non-government organizations controlled by businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles when he was congressman in 2007.
He allegedly received almost ₱2 million kickbacks from Napoles.
