Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Detained Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. is asking the Sandiganbayan to reconsider its decision denying him permission to visit the wake of showbiz pillar German Moreno.
In a motion for reconsideration filed Tuesday afternoon (January 12) before the anti-graft court, Revilla said he lost “a father, a dear friend, and a mentor” in Moreno, who is more popularly known as Kuya Germs.

He explained he consistently relied on Moreno for guidance and that the late showbiz icon unconditionally helped his family.
The Sandiganbayan First Division previously denied Revilla’s request to leave his place of detention to visit the wake for at least five hours at the Mt. Carmel Church in Quezon City.

Moreno’s wake, the court ruled, cannot be considered a special circumstance that would warrant a furlough.
The court also considered security issues that may arise if Revilla is allowed to visit which the prosecution pointed out in its opposition to the senator’s request.
This is because the wake is open to the public.
Revilla now wants at least four hours from 5 to 9 p.m. to pay his final respects to Moreno at the GMA-7 Network Center Studio 6 in Quezon City.
