Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 5) — Filipino-German cager Christian Standhardinger has submitted his application Monday for the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Draft, the league announced Monday.
The 28-year-old has turned heads of Filipino basketball fans after being a reliable presence for the national squad in the 39th Jones Cup and FIBA Asia Cup this year.
Standhardinger was also instrumental in the Philippines’ gold medal run at the recently-concluded 29th Southeast Asian Games. He averaged 13.8 points and 11 rebounds in the biennial meet.
But acquiring the 6-ft, 7-inch center may be a risk as he has signed to suit up for the Hong Kong Eastern Lions in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) which runs from November 2017 to March 2018.
Also declaring for this year’s draft are Filipino-Americans Jason Perkins and Davon Potts, both 24, who are proven champions in the collegiate level.
The 2017 PBA Draft is scheduled on October 29.
