2017 SEA Games: 15-year-old archer gives PH second silver medal

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 20) — Teenager Nicole Tagle gave the Philippines its second silver medal in the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The 15-year-old archer gave Indonesian top seed Diananda Choidunis a scare before dropping a 4-6 setback in the gold medal match of the women’s individual recurve event.

Tagle, who had the entire archery team and gold medalist Mary Joy Tabal cheering her on, had an early 3-1 advantage. But the Indonesian took control of the succeeding rounds to complete the come from behind victory.

The Philippines is now at seventh place in the 11-nation competition with a gold, two silvers and two bronze medals.

The country’s archery team has so far delivered a silver and two bronze medals in the biennial meet.
