
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 14) — The Cinemalaya Film Festival released the new set of finalists for its 2018 full length film category
The finalists were announced in a post on its official Facebook page Monday morning.
The films include:
Denise O’Hara – Ang mga Bisita ni Mamang
Martika Escobar – Ang Pagbabalik ng Kwago
Rae Red – Babae at Baril
Carlo Catu – Kung Paano Hinihintay ang Dapithapon
James Mayo – Kuya Wes
Kip Oebanda – Liway
Benedict Mique – ML
Anna Francesca Espiritu (Che Espiritu) – Pan de Salawal
Dexter Hemedez and Allan Ibañez – Pilot
Jay Abello – Pinay Beauty
The ten finalists will receive a grant to produce their films, and will be featured in the 14th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival next year.
Cinemalaya 2018 will be held in August 2018 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines theaters and select Ayala Malls cinemas.
The 13th Cinemalaya Film Festival closed at the CCP last Sunday.
Rap battle musical-drama Respeto, directed by Treb Monteras, won best film.
The Cinemalaya Film Festival was first held in 2005. According to its website, it aims to encourage the creation of new cinematic works by Filipino filmmakers and “invigorate the Philippine filmmaking by developing a new breed of Filipino filmmakers.”
