#WalangPasok: August 11 class, work suspensions

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 11) — A number of schools called off classes on Friday in the aftermath of the magnitude-6.3 quake that hit Nasugbu, Batangas.

The following cities and schools have announced class and work suspension, as of 4:53 p.m.

Class suspensions:

Olongapo City

Taguig City

Imus, Cavite

De La Salle University-Dasmariñas

De La Salle University-Taft, Makati, BGC, Laguna

Lyceum of the Philippines University Batangas and Cavite

University of Batangas

Far Eastern University senior high school (Manila and Makati branches)

Philippine Women’s University Manila

Manila Tytana Colleges

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila

University of the East Manila and Caloocan (except College of Law)

Polytechnic University of the Philippines (NCR branches)

FEATI University

Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology

University of the Philippines Manila

Holy Angel University

Adamson University

University of Baguio

San Beda College

The earthquake hit an area off Nasugbu at 1:28 p.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

It said the quake was tectonic in origin — or there was a movement in the Earth’s crust – with a depth of 160 kilometers. Aftershocks are expected.

Nasugbu is around 100 km away from Manila City.
