Friday Free Lecture by Underwater Archaeologist Franck Goddio
Underwater archaeologist Franck Goddio continues his free lectures about his experience in searching underwater cities and discovering the lost worlds of Egypt along with other significant artifacts. Goddio’s expeditions have unraveled the history of Egypt during the period of 8th to 1st centuries BC, excavating great temples, shipwrecks, citadels, quarters, and infrastructures.
This lecture, to be held on Friday, May 26 at the National Museum of the Philippines, has limited seats. In celebration of HUB: Make Lab’s first anniversary, the Escolta community is coming together on May 27 to hold the Escolta Drag Fair: “a celebration of Philippine Drag Culture, fabulous eccentricity, and outrageous showmanship!” A final schedule of performances, activities, and workshops — from a “herstory lesson” featuring The Golden Gays to Vogue and Kokedama workshops to drag performances by the likes of Baklesque PH — will be posted on their Facebook event page. The fair opens at 11 a.m., and the festivities start at 3 p.m. Admission is free.

Imelda’s “Don’t Go Into the Light” Music Video Launch
Imelda, a hard rock band, is launching a music video for their song, “Don’t Go Into the Light,” on May 26, at Mow’s Bar, Matalino Street, Quezon City. Catch the screening of the music video (directed by Gio Puyat) at 9 p.m. along with performances by Imelda and other local bands like Yūrei, Beast Jesus, Nanay Mo, and Shadow Moses. Occupy Escolta: Reviving the Queen of the Streets
In the recent years, Escolta has been alight with buzz, experiencing a renewal of sorts with the influx of creatives that have flocked to the street in order to save a parcel of our city’s heritage. In time for the National Heritage Month, speakers from the Escolta Commercial Association, Inc., 98B Collaboratory, and The Public School Manila will discuss how efforts are being made to build and engage a community to jump-start the once dilapidated district of downtown Manila.
