
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The UST Golden Tigresses ended their first round campaign on a high note.
The Golden Tigresses turned back the FEU Lady Tamaraws, 25-16, 21-25, 26-24, 25-20, on Saturday afternoon at the Mall of Asia Arena.
EJ Laure registered a game-high 17 points for UST.
Mary Pacres had a stellar performance for the Golden Tigresses with her powerful spikes in the first set.
FEU then responded in the ensuing set with Toni Rose Basas and Remy Palma leading the charge.
With both squads even at 24 in the third set, Laure delivered in the clutch to give UST the 2-1 set advantage.
Cherry Rondina and Pacres contributed 14 points and 12 points respectively for the Golden Tigresses who improved to 4-3 in the standings.
Basas paced the Lady Tamaraws with 16 markers.
