UAAP Women’s Volleyball: La Salle secures last twice-to-beat incentive after disposing UST

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers edged out the University of Sto. Tomas Golden Tigresses, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21, on Wednesday night at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Desiree Cheng registered 13 points for the Lady Spikers.

Down by four points, La Salle showed resiliency to win the first set and dictate the pace of the match.

The Golden Tigresses were able to cut the deficit within striking distance, but the Lady Spikers’ composure was the key to their success in the second frame.

DLSU’s Kim Dy, meanwhile, sprained her left ankle after landing on a block attempt with the Lady Spikers holding a 6-4 lead.

La Salle is now assured of a twice-to-beat advantage, while UST fell to 7-5 and is part of a three-way logjam at the third spot in the team standings.

The Lady Spikers will go up against the winless Adamson Lady Falcons on April 1 (Saturday) at the Mall of Asia Arena.
