UAAP Women’s Volleyball: La Salle, Ateneo clash in blockbuster showdown for top spot

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — A sea of green versus an ocean of blue.

It’s that time of the year again where La Salle and Ateneo loyalists come together to witness their respective squads battle each other for volleyball supremacy.

What makes this encounter more meaningful is that the winner will grab the top spot in the team standings at the end of the first round — both Lady Spikers and Lady Eagles hold a 5-1 record as of the moment.

DLSU is coming off a rousing victory over the University of the East Lady Warriors last Sunday to extend its winning streak to three.

While Ateneo is riding on a momentum after defeating erstwhile unbeaten University of the Philippines Lady Maroons.

Expected to lead the charge for the Taft-based squad are reigning UAAP Finals MVP Kim Dy, ace setter Kim Fajardo, and block specialist Mary Joy Baron.

Sophomore hitter Jhoana Maraguinot, Michelle Morente, Maddie Madayag, and Bea De Leon, meanwhile, will carry the cudgels for the Tai Bundit-led team.

Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The FEU Lady Tamaraws and UST Golden Tigresses meet in the first match at 2 p.m.
