Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 19) — Two Filipinos died while three others were injured in a train and car crash in New Zealand Wednesday morning, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
In a statement, the DFA said the incident involving the five Filipinos happened at the Bay of Plenty on Pongakawa School Road near Te Puke in the northern part of the country.
The Philippine Embassy in Wellington, New Zealand is “closely coordinating with authorities to ascertain the identities of the Filipinos and check their condition,” the agency added.
The DFA said the embassy is ready to provide the necessary assistance to the Filipino victims and their families.
