Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 6) — President Rodrigo Duterte said he will fire more officials.
In a speech delivered to the National Federation of the Motorcycle Clubs of the Philippines at Iloilo City, the President said that he will fire more people next week.
“Pagbalik ko (When I return) maybe tomorrow I’ll be firing a lot of people simply for corruption,” Duterte told motorcycle enthusiasts.
He hinted that among those that would be fired is someone who had the “ability to convert”.
“The authority to convert is given to a single person tapos pabalik-balikin mo ang tao (and then you make people return) for two years, for me that is corruption,” he said.
The President has fired several of his Cabinet members and executive appointees during his term for alleged corruption.
He also said that he might create a separate agency for land reclamation.
“I may institute another agency. (With) people with unquestionable character. Para malinis (So it’s clean),” Duterte added.
