Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 24) — The vice mayor of Shariff Aguak was wounded after an ambush in the Maguindanao town Tuesday, an official confirmed.
Maguindanao 2nd District Rep. Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu told CNN Philippines that Vice Mayor Akmad “Mitra” Ampatuan sustained injuries after unidentified gunmen opened fire on his vehicle this afternoon. His two bodyguards and driver were killed.
Ampatuan served as a prosecution witness during the second wave of the Maguindanao massacre trials, Mangudadatu added.
