Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 4) — Five Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) cadets are now “under isolation” while they are being probed over an alleged hazing incident in the police school.
PNPA spokesperson Byron Allatog said Monday in a statement that the five will be directed to explain before a formal administrative charge is filed against them.
The cadets were identified in the affidavit complaint of PNPA plebe Cadet John Desiderio’s affidavit complaint received by the police academy’s investigator.
Allatog added that police investigators have visited Desiderio at the hospital where he is confined to assist him in filing criminal charges against the suspects.
PLTGen Archie Gamboa, PNP officer-in-charge, said he is saddened by the incident, adding that those involved must be expelled from the academy.
Desiderio, whom the PNPA suspects is a victim of “maltreatment” at the hands of his fellow cadets, had to undergo an operation after he was diagnosed with internal bleeding in his abdominal area last October 29.
The five PNPA cadets may be dismissed from the police school if it is proven that they had a hand in the alleged hazing of Desiderio.
