Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 13) — Local officials in Itogon, Benguet have found better use for seized bottles of liquor – spray them as a disinfectant on roads and municipal grounds.
Itogon Mayor Victorio Palangdan said Saturday that police had confiscated 960 bottles of gin from several liquor ban violators during community quarantine.
“To make good use of it, local officials initiated the disinfection of the municipal grounds using the confiscated bottles of gin,” Palangdan said in a social media post. “Reminding everyone that the liquor ban in our municipality is still in effect. Violators will be apprehended.”
The local government imposed a liquor ban in March, following the Luzon-wide lockdown implemented to help stop the spread of coronavirus in the country.
The liquor ban remains in place, even after Benguet eased into modified general community quarantine on June 1.
On Friday, Palangdan announced another coronavirus positive patient in Itogon town, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to four.
