(CNN Philippines, June 11) — Gilas Pilipinas veteran Gabe Norwood’s dunk over Argentina’s Luis Scola has been nominated for the FIBA Dunk of the Decade on Thursday.
As of posting time, Norwood holds 78.9 percent of the votes in his first round matchup versus Australia’s Mitch Creek in the Asia and Oceania bracket.
Fans can vote only once in every bracket once a day until the competition moves to the next round on June 14.
It can be recalled that the Philippines’ trip in the 2014 World Cup was already a historic feat as it was the country’s first taste of top-notch FIBA action in 36 years.
Although the Philippines finished 21st in the 2014 international showpiece, it paved the way for the vast improvement of its national team program.
The former national basketball team captain’s one-handed slam against the ex-NBA cager in the 2014 FIBA World Cup is included in the shortlist of the best rack attack from the past 10 years, which also features NBA stars Giannis Antetokounmpo, James Harden, Luka Doncic, Jaylen Brown, and Rudy Gobert.
