Bacoor City LGU ends lockdown in Molino 3

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 8) – The local government of Bacoor City in Cavite ended on Thursday night the lockdown in Barangay Molino 3.

In a statement posted on their official Facebook page, the Bacoor City LGU specified the lockdown would be lifted effective today at 12:01 a.m.

The decision stemmed from the meeting of the city’s local COVID-19 task force and Molino 3 barangay officials led by their barangay captain Jun Advincula Jr. yesterday.

Although the city government clarified that even if it lifted the Barangay Molino 3 lockdown, the guidelines of the enhanced community quarantine will still be implemented until May 15.

The Bacoor City Health Office reported the barangay has 18 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 13 active infections.

Among the 13 active infections, seven of them are admitted in Metro Manila hospitals and five are confined in Cavite-based hospitals. One infected patient is still undergoing home quarantine while awaiting confirmation of his recovery status.

The city health office also said that since the start of the Molino 3 lockdown last April 24, five infected patients have recovered from the virus.

Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla placed Barangay Molino 3 on lockdown from April 24 to 30 to further prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the city.

Revilla extended the lockdown from April 30 to May 7 as a precautionary measure.

As of the latest tally, Bacoor has 89 confirmed COVID-19 cases along with 33 recoveries and 10 deaths.

Meanwhile, the Bacoor city government announced it entered into a referral agreement with Level 2 hospitals in their area to provide isolation rooms to suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients.

The city also now has a quarantine facility for Bacoor-based overseas Filipino workers who don’t have a mandatory quarantine certification from Bureau of Quarantine.

They also provided a step-down facility for recovered COVID-19 patients, who got discharged from the hospital but have to complete the 14-day isolation period before they can return to their homes.

The Department of Health tallied 339 new COVID-19 infections in the country yesterday, hiking the infected toll at 10,343. The DOH also tallied 685 fatalities and 1,618 recoveries of the disease.
