Barangay Mauway in Mandaluyong to be placed under total lockdown from May 11 to 13

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 10)— Another village in Mandaluyong City will face stricter lockdown measures amid the rise in COVID-19 infections in the area.

Barangay Mauway will be placed under “total lockdown” starting 12:00 a.m. of May 11 until 11:59 p.m. of May 13, local officials announced on Saturday.

The directive, pursuant to the city’s Executive Order No. 16 series of 2020, will only allow health frontliners, essential workers, and residents with emergencies to head out of their homes.

The Mandaluyong City government said food packs will be distributed prior to the lockdown. Rapid COVID-19 tests will also be administered to select residents.

The local government earlier placed Barangay Addition Hills, the area hardest hit by the infectious disease, under a one-week hard lockdown which will last until May 14.

As of Saturday afternoon, the city has recorded 466 positive cases of COVID-19, including 37 fatalities and 129 recoveries.

The Philippines, meanwhile, has logged over 10,000 cases of the viral disease.
