
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 28) – An additional 209 Filipinos abroad have contracted COVID-19, the largest single-day increase for the past month, the Foreign Affairs Department said Tuesday.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases among Filipinos abroad to 1,604. Of this number, 419 have recovered while 189 have died.
New reports from the Americas and Europe also raised the number of countries with Filipino COVID-19 patients to 46, the DFA said.
The DFA added, there are 996 overseas Filipinos undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, Filipinos abroad are assured that DFA personnel continue to work with local health authorities and agencies to attend to their needs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are now more than 3 million COVID-19 cases worldwide, with nearly a third of all cases in the United States.
Nearly 900,000 people have recovered from the respiratory disease, and at least 210,000 have died.
