Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 9) – While it’s not yet officially the start of the dry season in the Philippines, hot and humid weather will likely prevail in the country, the state weather bureau said Monday.
“Pinapayuhan natin ang ating mga kababayan, especially sa mga lalabas between 12nn to 3pm, na magdala ng pananggalang sa matinding sikat ng araw at magdala ng tubig para hindi madehydrate dahil sa sobrang init ng ating panahon,” weather forecaster Raymond Ordinario of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) told CNN Philippines’ New Day.

Easterlies or winds from the Pacific Ocean in the east are causing the humid weather in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
In its weather bulletin, PAGASA said temperature in Metro Manila will fall between 25 to 35°C for the day.
Over the weekend, Tuguegarao and Pasay City recorded the highest temperature of the day at 35.5°C.
“Pag-uusapan pa po ng ating mga kasamahan kung kailan offciailly idedeklara ang pagtatapos ng Amihan season. That’s the time na pwede pong sabihin na nagstart na po ng tag-init, [especially] on the east, western side of Luzon including Metro Manila,” Ordinario said.
[Translation: We have yet to deliberate when we will officially declare the end of the Amihan season. That’s the time that we can only stay that it’s officially the start of the dry season, especially on the east, western side of Luzon including Metro Manila.]
The weakening of the Amihan indicates that the northeast monsoon is getting weaker, PAGASA said.
Isolated rains may still occur due to thunderstorms in the Mindanao region, it added.
