Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 30) — A paralegal officer who works at the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory has tested positive for COVID-19, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology confirmed Monday.

BJMP spokesperson Xavier Solda said the female paralegal has been working from home since March 21. He said she was allowed to work from home because she has asthma, hypertension and diabetes.

Solda said their personnel, including those whom she interacted with, are now on quarantine at their homes.

“Being strict in implementing precautionary measures to protect our jails and offices from COVID 19 does not mean that we are not mindful of our personnel working from their homes,” he added.

The Health Department has so far reported 1,418 cases of COVID-19, 71 deaths and 42 recoveries.
