PBA: Injury bug continues to bite San Miguel as Terrence Romeo hurts ankle in tune-up game

READ: Fajardo out indefinitely after suffering injury in practice

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 21) — The San Miguel Beermen just could not catch a break from a string of injuries.

The 27-year-old Romeo said it happened after hitting a shot then tripping on an exercise equipment. He hopes it’s just a sprain.

It was another bad news for the Beermen, which already lost five-time league Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo earlier this month due to a fracture on his right tibia (leg) .

Resident gunner Marcio Lassiter is also sidelined in San Miguel’s preparations for the upcoming season due to a broken nose he sustained in a tune-up game versus Rain or Shine Elasto Painters last week.

The Beermen are gunning for their sixth straight PBA Philippine Cup title. They will open the season versus the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok on March 8 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

CNN Philippines Correspondent Pauline Verzosa contributed to this report.

Terrence Romeo is the latest San Miguel player to suffer an injury, hurting his right ankle during a tune-up match against the Alaska Aces Friday in Pasig City.
