Two Filipinos from Wuhan test negative for coronavirus

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 12) — Two Filipinos brought home from the epicenter of the new coronavirus outbreak tested negative for what world health officials have named Corona Virus Disease or COVID-19, the Department of Health said on Wednesday.

DOH spokesperson Eric Domingo said the two Filipinos who came from Wuhan, China complained of diarrhea while quarantined in the Athlete’s Village in New Clark City, Tarlac. Diarrhea is one of the “unusual symptoms” of the infection, the undersecretary said.

He said the two were tested once for the virus, but turned out negative.

Domingo said the two Filipinos were brought back from a hospital in Pampanga to the New Clark City to complete their 14-day quarantine.

Thirty Filipino workers arrived in the Philippines from Wuhan on Sunday. They are quarantined in the sports housing complex with 19 others so they can be closely monitored if they show flu-like symptoms.
