MMDA chief tests positive for COVID-19

“Kagabi, matapos kong sumailalim sa routine swab test, nakuha ko na ang results at lumabas na positive ako sa COVID-19 sa kabila ng palaging pag-iingat at pagsunod nang maigi sa mga health protocols sa lahat ng pagkakataon,” Lim said in a Facebook post. “Pinapakita lang nito kung gaano katindi ang COVID-19 at lahat ay pwedeng tamaan.”

[Translation: Last night, after I had my routine swab test, results showed I am positive for COVID-19 even though I am being careful and observing health protocols. This only shows how strong COVID-19 is, and anyone can be infected.]

The MMDA is one the government agencies working in the frontlines amid the pandemic.

Fortunately, Lim said his wife and child tested negative for the coronavirus. He added that his symptoms are mild.

Lim also said he will continue his self-isolation and already told those who had close contact with him to isolate themselves as well.

COVID-19 cases in the country have reached 471,526 as of today. Recoveries are now at 439,016 and death toll has risen to 9,162.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 29) – Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Danny Lim on Tuesday confirmed he has tested positive for COVID-19.
