Dumaguete City (CNN Philippines, December 28) — Nearly two dozen people temporarily detained at the Dumaguete Police Station have tested positive for COVID-19.
This was confirmed on Sunday by Dr. Liland Estacion, the IATF ground commander in Negros Oriental, who said swab tests were immediately done to 72 detainees after one inmate exhibited coronavirus symptoms.
Twenty-two people tested positive.
Dumaguete City Police Station Chief PLtCol Mark Gifter Sucalit said the infected were immediately placed in one detention cell, and the City Health Office is regularly monitoring their condition.
He added all police assigned in the detention center underwent swab tests as well, and were found negative for COVID-19.
