Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 11) — Cash transactions will be implemented in Bulacan tollways to resolve RFID (radio-frequency identification) issues, following the request of the League of Municipalities of Bulacan.
Metro Pacific Tollways spokesperson Romulo Quimbo Jr. told CNN Philippines on Friday that they are just making the adjustments on the ground to implement cash transactions in the Bulacan toll booths to accommodate those who do not have RFID.
“Number one, we are going to put up cash lanes. In other words, we are accepting cash as soon as possible. We are just making operational adjustments on the ground,” Quimbo said, adding that this is in response to the clamor of stakeholders in the province, especially of Guguinto Mayor Ambrosio “Boy” Cruz Jr.
He said cash lanes will be opened in Bulacan as soon as possible, while the reloading of RFID accounts has also been relocated away from the toll gates because it was causing congestion.
All motorists who were accidentally charged at the Valenzuela toll booths during the toll holiday have already been refunded, Quimbo added.
