Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 8) — The driver who sped off after a shooting incident in Cavite City on Friday has been apprehended, the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (HPG) said on Sunday.

The driver was identified as Raymond Zuniega and is one of the two suspects in the armed encounter with the provincial HPG along the Manila Cavite Road in Barangay 8, Dalahican, Cavite at around 1 p.m. on Friday.

The shootout left two people dead, including PCMS Julius Arcalas, a member of the provincial HPG, as well as the other suspect identified as businessman Methusael Cebrian.

According to a police report, the suspects were on board a silver gray Nissan Terra without a license plate, prompting authorities to flag them down for vehicle verification.

Instead of showing the necessary documents, police said Cebrian “alighted from said vehicle and fired several shots” at the HPG personnel, who returned fire and killed the suspect.

Arcalas was still brought to the Cavite Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival, according to police.
