Manila’s job order, contract of service workers to receive ₱5K cash aid

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 26) – Job order and contract of service workers of the city government of Manila will receive ₱5,000 each to ease their financial burden caused by the pandemic.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has signed Ordinance No. 8701, which allocates ₱49.8 million in financial assistance for these workers.

In a statement, Domagoso said the funding will be sourced from various Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses accounts under the city’s 2020 budget.

The ordinance was passed by the City Council led by Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan.

President Rodrigo Duterte has extended the country’s state of calamity status until next year due to the ongoing pandemic through Proclamation No. 1021.

“Presidential proclamations enjoined all government agencies and local government units to render full assistance to and cooperation with each other and mobilize the necessary resources to undertake critical, urgent, and appropriate disaster response aid and measures in a timely manner to curtail and eliminate the threat of COVID-19,” said Domagoso.
