Missing French national rescued in Mt. Province

(CNN Philippines, January 23) — A 70-year-old French national has been rescued in Mountain Province more than a week after he went missing.

Local authorities and volunteers found Francioly Jacques in a ravine at Sitio Sikling, Barangay Latang, in Barlig town Wednesday night.

Jacques appeared very weak and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Search and rescue operations were conducted after the management of Halfway Inn and Restaurant reported to the Barlig Municipal Police Station Tuesday that Jacques checked in on January 14, left on the same day saying he would go sight-seeing, and had not returned. His personal belongings were still inside his room.

Police said a tourism officer named Janssen Focad reported that on the night of January 13, her husband and his fellow tour guides offered to take Jacques hiking. The French tourist refused, saying he had no plans of hiking and that he wanted to go to Natonin town, more than 30 kilometers from Barlig.

Local police reminded tourists visiting Barlig to follow all rules and regulations for their own safety.
