
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 19) — Authorities confirm one person died in the fire that hit a residential area in Quezon City Sunday.
Quezon City Fire Department Deputy Fire Marshal CInsp Gilbert Valdez said 65-year-old Angelita Unite died after a fire broke out in Barangay Sto. Domingo.
Two other people — a 63-year-old and a 4-year-old — were injured in the blaze.
One hundred eighty families were left homeless by the fire, which started in the afternoon and reached fifth alarm at 6:13 p.m.; at 7:59 p.m. it was declared under control.
The Bureau of Fire Protection declared the fire out at 9:30 p.m.
Damage from the fire was is estimated at around ₱750,000.
