Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 18) — Former child actor Jiro Manio has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man in Marikina City.
Manio, 27, was brought to the Marikina City Police Station at around 7:20 p.m. on Friday for frustrated homicide.
Initial police investigation showed Manio stabbed a man identified as Zeus Doctolero three times with a kitchen knife. The 25-year-old victim was walking to a friend’s house when Manio “assaulted him,” resulting in a fist fight until Manio pulled out his knife, police said.
Doctolero was able to grab the knife from Manio, breaking its handle. He has stab wounds on his upper back and head and was brought to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
Manio was thrust back into the spotlight in 2015 after he was seen loitering at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Actress Ai-ai delas Alas, who played the role of Manio’s mother in the “Tanging Ina” film series, helped him and took him to a rehabilitation facility. Manio was released from drug rehab in January 2016.
Before his arrest, Manio was a helper in an eatery in Barangay San Roque, Marikina, according to the police.
