Taal activity to bring rains over parts of Calabarzon

Aurelio also said winds from Tagaytay are now heading towards the provinces of Quezon, Rizal and Aurora, which means these areas could be reached by Taal Volcano’s volcanic ash — an irritant to the eyes and lungs.

CNN Philippines (Metro Manila, January 14) – People over Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon will have cloudy skies and rains with plumes due to Taal Volcano’s continuous eruptions, an official from the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

On Sunday, gusts from the north brought ashfall in parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila and Calabarzon, prompting local governments to suspend classes.

The rains may possibly cause reduced visibility conditions and mudflow, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in an update on Tuesday.

But PAGASA’s weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio also said these rains may wash away the ash in the areas affected by the volcanic activity which has been going on since Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, light rains may prevail over Ilocos, Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region due to the northeast monsoon.

The low pressure area inside PAGASA’s monitoring area, last seen 670 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar is also forecasted to weaken any time Tuesday.

PAGASA forecaster Meno Mendoza added in a briefing that they are not expecting new weather system in the next two to three days.
