Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 1) — Wednesday marked the turn of the decade as the world welcomed the year 2020.
Fireworks lit up the skies as the clock struck at 12 midnight in various locations in the country, with Filipinos ushering in the new year with a bang.
Filipinos celebrated the new year in different parts of the country. Some people flocked to Okada Manila wherein entertainment was provided by Grammy-winning American singer-songwriter Cee Lo Green. Pinoy singers Bugoy Drilon, Michael Pangilinan, Daryl Ong, Eric Santos, and KZ Tandingan also set up the mood for the celebration.
Meanwhile, families in Tondo, Manila enjoyed the whole night partying in the streets.
Around the globe, iconic landmarks saw splashes of color with fireworks displays to welcome 2020.
The people from the pacific, New Zealand and Australia, first welcomed the new decade.
On the other hand, Koreans rang the landmark bell at the Bosingak pavillion to mark the end of 2019.
