PLDT ends 2021 PVL Open Conference stint with sweep of Cignal

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 6) – The PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters concluded their 2021 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference campaign on a positive note after sweeping the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-20, 25-14, 25-19, Friday at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

Isa Molde led the charge with 16 points and 12 attacks as PLDT wound up in seventh place in the team standings with a 3-6 slate.

The Roger Gorayeb-mentored Power Hitters were on attack mode throughout the match.

They outscored Cignal in total spikes (44-29), excellent digs (77-32), and excellent sets (27-17).

The HD Spikers did not have a chance to force a fourth set as Chin Basas, Mariella Gabarda, and Aiko Urdas delivered the last kills for the Power Hitters.

Other double-digit scorers for the PLDT squad were CJ Soyud with 12 and Jorelle Singh with 11 markers.

With the loss, Cignal tied with the Perlas Spikers at the bottom of the standings with a 1-7 record.

They will face the Black Mamba-Army Lady Troopers on Saturday in their final game.
