Kaya FC-Iloilo to square off with Shanghai Port for AFC Champions League spot

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 6) – Kaya-FC Iloilo will face Shanghai Port for a chance to clinch a spot in the 2021 AFC Champions League, the club confirmed on Sunday.

Kaya is supposed to square off with Brisbane Roar on June 20, but the match was cancelled as the Australian squad pulled out of the tournament.

If Kaya emerges victorious against Shanghai on June 23 at the Pathum Thani Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, it will be the club’s debut in the prestigious continental club competition.

The winner of Kaya-Shanghai tussle will be part of Group F composed of Thai League 1 champion BG Pathum United, Vietnam League 1 winner Viettel, and 2020 K League 1 titlist Ulsan Hyundai of South Korea.

Defending Philippines Football League champions United City is also making their AFC Champions League debut this year as the club is part of Group I with Kawasaki Frontale, Beijing Guoan, and Daegu FC.
