Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 1) — President Rodrigo Duterte is still weighing his options after his political party formally urged him to run for vice president in 2022, his spokesman said on Tuesday.
“Sa lahat po ng nagtatanong kung ano ang kasagutan ng Presidente, ang kasagutan po ay pag-iisipan niya,” Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a briefing.

On Monday, the ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) adopted a resolution convincing Duterte to join next year’s vice presidential race, while also giving him the option to choose his running mate.
“On the one hand, sabi niya nakapagsilbi na siya sa bayan,” Roque said. “On the other hand, ang sabi niya iisipin niya kung anong pinakamabuti para sa bayan.”

Roque earlier said the President is “leaving to God” the decision to run for the second highest seat in the government.
His daughter, incumbent Davao City mayor Sara Duterte, is among those seen to possibly take over his role in 2022. However, the mayor told her supporters earlier this year to wait until 2034 for her presidential bid.
