Pagadian City (CNN Philippines, May 9) – Zamboanga del Sur tallied on Sunday its highest single-day record of COVID-19 cases since January this year.
The Integrated Provincial Health Office reported 59 new confirmed cases with one reinfection case, bringing the total active infections to 486.
Pagadian City has the highest number of cases in the province with 244, followed by the towns of Aurora (29), Labangan (24), and Tigbao (23).
Beach resorts and leisure venues are currently closed until May 31 due to the high COVID-19 cases. Governor Victor Yu has enforced a liquor ban and the closure of entertainment venues, such as bars, clubs, concert halls and theatres.
