Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 7) — The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has approved the community quarantine reclassification of Zamboanga City and Tacloban City, spokesperson Harry Roque announced Friday.
Zamboanga City shall be placed under modified enhanced community quarantine until May 14 while Tacloban City will be under modified general community quarantine until May 31 “effective immediately,” Roque said.
Mayor Beng Climaco announced earlier this week that Zamboanga City, which had been under modified GCQ, will shift to the stricter quarantine classification as it grapples with a spike in COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, Tacloban City was supposed to be under GCQ for the entire month of May.
Roque said the changes in the quarantine classifications were due to the appeals of the two cities’ respective local government units.
