Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 28)— The proposal to extend funding for the COVID-19 response by six months cleared the House appropriations committee.
The bill seeks to extend again the validity of funds under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Bayanihan 2 until December 31 from June 30.
This will be the second extension from the original deadline of Dec. 19, 2020.
The Bayanihan 2 set aside ₱165.5 billion to finance the pandemic response and recovery.
Last week, the House appropriations committee also approved the proposed Bayanihan to Arise as One Act or Bayanihan 3 with a budget of ₱405.6 billion, including a new round of aid for people affected by the health crisis.
