Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 17) — Olivia Culpo became one of the trending topics on Twitter on Monday morning as pageant fans and netizens poked fun at her dull hosting at the 69th Miss Universe pageant.
Twitter was filled with memes of the Miss Universe 2012 titleholder donning a red dress and putting on a straight face while hosting alongside Mario Lopez.
Some Filipino netizens likened her vibe to their overall “mood” after the country’s bet Rabiya Mateo did not make it to the Top 10. The 24-year-old Ilongga beauty finished in the Top 21.
Twitter user @Marvsdg25 said: “Baka kaya matamlay si Olivia alam niyang di pasok sa Top 10 ang Philippines.”
[Translation: Maybe Olivia lacked energy because she knew that the Philippines did not make it to the Top 10.]
Other pageant critics compared Culpo’s performance with Steve Harvey, who hosted the annual show since 2015.

Some other fans, on the other hand, wondered what it would have been like if Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up Janine Tugonon from the Philippines ended up hosting the pageant instead of Culpo.
“Miss Ma’am, nasa audience lang si Janine Tugonon, pwede sub as host kay Olivia Culpo? Kasi diba, (Miss Ma’am, Janine Tugonon was just among the audience, could she replace Olivia Culpo as host? Because) if for any reason that the Miss Universe cannot fulfill her duties, the 1st runner-up shall take over,” @MissAnonymaee said.
