Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 11) – The Games and Amusements Board announced on Monday the lifting of the suspension earlier imposed on the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup basketball league’s Mindanao leg.

“The holding of Mindanao Leg, which will strictly adhere to the No License, No Play’ policy, is conditioned on the submission of the regulatory requirements, such as health screening, drug testing, and related documents, as well as on continuing adherence to protocols and strict supervision of the games,” said GAB Chairman Baham Mitra.

The Mindanao leg of the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup is set to start on May 30. The host city will be revealed in the coming days.

GAB suspended the new cage league’s Mindanao leg last April 19, days after the controversial April 14 game between Siquijor Mystics and ARQ-Lapu Lapu City Heroes in the Visayas leg. The match went viral online after a number of questionable plays, which included botched open lay-ups and players intentionally missing free throws.

The league expelled the Siquijor team. It also fined and suspended Lapu-Lapu City players and coaches.

“We are grateful to the league’s officials for their sincerity to undertake the needed reforms for the protection and welfare of professional basketball, the players, and the public,” Mitra added.

KCS Computer Specialist-Mandaue City bagged the Visayas leg title after defeating MJAS Zenith-Talisay City Aquastars, 89-75, in the sudden death Game 3 of the Finals on Sunday at the Alcantara Civic Center in Cebu.
