DILG: 90% of LGUs received their cash aid fund, to start distribution Wednesday

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 6) — The Department of the Interior and Local Government said distribution of cash assistance for Filipinos affected by the implementation of strict community restrictions will start on Wednesday.

This is after almost 90% of local government units have received their allocation from the ₱22.9 billion financial assistance, DILG spokesman Jonathan Malaya said during the Laging Handa briefing.

He said distribution will start in Parañaque and Caloocan, then in the cities of Manila, Mandaluyong and Valenzuela the following day.

Local government units that are also part of the NCR Plus are also gearing up to start handing out the cash aid to their constituents, he added.

The DILG and the Department of Social Welfare and Development already issued the guidelines for the distribution of financial aid. Generally, a beneficiary will receive ₱1,000, with a maximum of ₱4,000 per family.

Recipients include those who belong to low-income households and the vulnerable sector, and those greatly affected by the strict quarantine measure.

Malaya earlier warned politicians against using their names and images in the distribution of aid for political purposes. Violators will be held liable and shall face appropriate charges, he said.

He also encouraged the public to raise their concerns to their local government’s Grievance and Appeals Committee for any irregularities in the distribution or in the list of beneficiaries.
