Metro Manila (CNN Philippine, March 12) — Pateros Mayor Miguel Ponce III announced on Friday that the municipality will start implementing Metro Manila’s uniform curfew hours and a liquor ban starting Saturday, March 13 — two days ahead of the 16 cities in the capital region.
In a public address streamed online, Ponce said he issued an executive order for the implementation of the 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew as well as the liquor ban which will last until the end of March.
He also said that fire trucks will also be deployed across the municipality to disinfect roads, and checkpoints will be set up for border control. Those who are not following minimum health protocols will also be held liable, he added.
On Thursday, Metro Manila mayors agreed to adopt a uniform curfew hours beginning March 15 amid the spike in COVID-19 cases.
Metro Manila Council Chairman and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said that police and military personnel will be deployed across the region starting Monday to ensure strict implementation of the curfew hours.
Only essential workers on duty, or those who are going to or coming home from work during curfew hours are exempted as long as they present their valid IDs to authorities.
Food deliveries will also be allowed, and restaurants are permitted to operate 24/7.
Penalties will vary depending on the local government unit.
