Tropical depression outside PAR intensifies into tropical storm — PAGASA

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 30) — The tropical depression that is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday has intensified into a tropical storm, the state weather bureau said on Tuesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Tropical Storm Nyatoh (international name) will be named “Odette” once it enters PAR tomorrow afternoon or evening.

The storm was last located 1,455 km east of Visayas at 10 a.m. It has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Nyatoh is forecast to move west northwestward in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said.

Although Nyatoh may exit the country 24 hours after entry,  PAGASA advised the public to “continue monitoring for possible eastward or westward shift in the track forecast of the tropical storm.”
