Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 11) — The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is set to vaccinate about 300 student-athletes in Metro Manila next week, its chairman said Monday.
[Translation: Next week, we will vaccinate 300 student-athletes at the UP College of Human Kinetics.]
The vaccination drive is for college players from the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the University Athletics Association of the Philippines, De Vera noted.
“This is to highlight the urgency of vaccination and to encourage all education personnel and students to immediately get vaccinated,” the official said.
De Vera said some universities already have high vaccination rates among faculty members and students.
He also said that 73% of higher education personnel from 1,448 universities and colleges are now protected against the virus.
Based on its data, CHED said the COVID-19 infection rate among students and educators was “very low”, proving that the guidelines for limited in-person classes are being strictly implemented.
“Sa susunod na linggo, magbabakuna tayo ng 300 student-athletes (na gaganapin) sa UP College of Human Kinetics,” Prospero de Vera, CHED chairperson, said during a virtual briefing.
