
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 30) — Public and private hospitals in the country are in need of a total of 194,114 healthcare workers, the Health department bared Friday.
Health officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire earlier said there is a shortage or gap of 106,000 nurses in Philippine hospitals.

To be exact, the Department of Health (DOH) said 106,541 nurses are needed to fill this gap.
Apart from nurses, here’s a breakdown of the open roles, as announced by the department:
– physicians: 67,345
– pharmacists: 6,651
– radiologist: 5,502
– medical technicians: 4,416
– nutritionist-dieticians: 1,680
– occupational therapist: 884
– midwives: 785
– physical therapists: 223
– dentist: 87
Vergeire said they are working on increasing the salaries of health workers to encourage them to stay in the country.
